What is a "Balanced Approach" to dog training?

NJ FIx My Dog uses a "Balanced Approach" to training which consists of a combination of both reward based training (food, toy, praise) as well as using consequences (light collar correction, isolation, etc) for the unwanted behavior.

We combine years of experience and mulitple training methods to find the solution that works for each individual dog.  No two dogs are a like so we test to find the right method for your dog's issues.

What we don't use what is called "Purely Positive" training which is best described as ignoring a dog's unwanted behavior (turn away if they jump on you, ignore barking, etc) and coaxing the dog with a treat to attain the correct behavior.  After 30 years we have found the "Purely Positive" method doesn't have a lasting effect with most dogs or owners and can lead to a lot of tummy aches.
